Addresses & Categories

This section explains how Addresses and categories help users organize boxes, bins, trunks, and storage containers in Elephant Trax.
Addresses and categories make it easier to search, filter, and find boxes later, especially when users have many boxes stored in different places.

Addresses in Elephant Trax help you identify the physical place where a box is stored.

Instead of only adding a simple location name, Elephant Trax allows you to save detailed address information for your boxes. This is useful when your boxes are stored in different homes, offices, warehouses, storage units, or client locations.

When creating an address, you can add details such as:

  • Address name, such as “Home Garage,” “Office Storage,” or “Storage Unit”
  • Street address line 1
  • Street address line 2
  • City
  • Province or state
  • ZIP or postal code
  • Country

Elephant Trax may also use Google address search to help you enter a physical address more easily and accurately.

Currently, addresses are connected at the box level, not the item level. This means you can assign an address to a box, and the items inside that box will be associated with that box’s address.

After assigning an address to a box, you can use the Browse page to search or filter boxes by address. This makes it easier to find where a box is physically stored, especially if you manage boxes across multiple places.

To create an address in Elephant Trax, go to the Settings page in the app and tap the Addresses option.

The Addresses section is a complete address management area where you can add and manage the physical places where your boxes are stored.

When creating a new address, you can enter details such as:

  • Address name, such as “Home Garage,” “Office Storage,” or “Storage Unit”
  • Street address line 1
  • Street address line 2
  • City
  • Province or state
  • ZIP or postal code
  • Country

After creating the address, you can assign it to a box while creating a new box or editing an existing box.

Currently, addresses are applied at the box level, not the item level. This means the address helps identify where the box is stored, and the items inside that box are connected to the same box address.

Using clear and complete address details helps you organize your boxes better and makes it easier to search or filter boxes later from the Browse page.

You can assign an address to a box while setting up the box or later from the Box Detail page.

When you are assigning a QR code or creating a box label, Elephant Trax gives you the option to select an address for that box. Choose the address where the box is physically stored, such as your home, garage, office, warehouse, or storage unit.

You can also add or update the box address later. Open the Box Detail page, tap the available edit or action option, and update the address information for that box.

After saving, the address will be connected to the box. You can later use the Browse page to search or filter boxes by address, making it easier to find where each box is stored.

Currently, addresses are assigned at the box level, not the item level. This means the address applies to the box and the items stored inside that box.

To edit or delete an address in Elephant Trax, go to the Settings page and tap Addresses.

The Addresses section is the main place where you can manage all saved physical addresses connected to your boxes.

Select the address you want to update. From there, you can edit details such as:

  • Address name
  • Street address line 1
  • Street address line 2
  • City
  • Province or state
  • ZIP or postal code
  • Country

After making changes, save the updated address information.

You can also delete an address if you no longer need it. Before deleting an address, please check whether any boxes are currently assigned to it. If boxes are still using that address, you may need to update those boxes first and assign them to a different address.

Deleting an address may remove it from your address list and filter options, and it may also affect how assigned boxes are organized or found in the Browse page.

Categories help you organize boxes based on what type of items are inside.

For example, you can create categories such as:

  • Clothes
  • Documents
  • Tools
  • Kitchen Items
  • Toys
  • Electronics
  • Books
  • Holiday Decorations
  • Sports Equipment
  • Office Supplies

Categories make it easier to group similar boxes together.

For example, if you want to find all boxes that contain clothes, you can filter by the Clothes category from the Browse page.

To create a category in Elephant Trax, go to the Settings page and tap the Categories option.

The Categories section allows you to create and manage different types of box groups. Categories help you organize boxes based on what kind of items are stored inside them.

For example, you can create categories such as:

  • Documents
  • Tools
  • Winter Clothes
  • Kitchen Items
  • Electronics
  • Toys
  • Holiday Decorations
  • Office Supplies

After creating a category, you can assign it to a box while creating a new box, assigning a QR code, assigning a box label, or editing an existing box from the Box Detail page.

Using clear category names makes it easier to search, filter, and find your boxes later from the Browse page.

You can assign a category to a box while creating the box or later from the Box Detail page.

When you are assigning a QR code or creating a box label, Elephant Trax gives you the option to select a category for that box. Choose the category that best describes the type of items stored inside.

For example:

  • A box with jackets and sweaters can be assigned to Clothes
  • A box with chargers, cables, and small devices can be assigned to Electronics
  • A box with files and papers can be assigned to Documents
  • A box with plates and utensils can be assigned to Kitchen Items

You can also update the category later. Open the Box Detail page, tap the available edit or action option, and change the category.

After saving, the box will be connected to that category. You can later use the Browse page to filter boxes by category and find them more easily.

Yes. You can filter boxes by address from the Browse page.

Since Elephant Trax uses addresses at the box level, you can filter your boxes based on the physical address where they are stored. This is helpful when you have boxes in different places, such as your home, office, warehouse, garage, or storage unit.

For example, if you select an address like Home Garage or Storage Unit, ElephantTrax will show the boxes assigned to that address.

You can also combine address filters with search. For example, you can select your Storage Unit address and search tools to find tool-related boxes stored at that address.

Currently, addresses apply to boxes, not individual items. This means when a box is assigned to an address, the items inside that box are connected to the same address.

Yes. You can filter boxes by category from the Browse page.

Categories help you find boxes based on the type of items stored inside them. For example, if you select the Clothes category, Elephant Trax will show boxes assigned to that category.

You can use categories such as:

  • Clothes
  • Documents
  • Tools
  • Kitchen Items
  • Electronics
  • Toys
  • Holiday Decorations
  • Office Supplies

You can also combine category filters with search. For example, you can select the Electronics category and search charger to find charger-related items or boxes saved under that category.

Category filters are useful when you have many boxes and want to quickly narrow down your inventory by item type.

Address and category both help you organize your boxes in Elephant Trax, but they are used for different purposes.

Address means the physical place where the box is stored.
For example:

  • Home Garage
  • Office Storage Room
  • Storage Unit
  • Warehouse
  • Basement
  • Client Location

In Elephant Trax, an address can include complete details such as street address, city, province or state, ZIP or postal code, and country. Addresses are currently applied at the box level, not the item level.

Category means the type of items stored inside the box.
For example:

  • Clothes
  • Documents
  • Tools
  • Kitchen Items
  • Toys
  • Electronics
  • Holiday Decorations

Example:

Address: Storage Unit
Category: Holiday Decorations

This means the box is physically stored at your storage unit address, and the items inside that box are holiday decorations.

Using both address and category together helps you find boxes more accurately from the Browse page.
