Boxes, Items
& Inventory

This section explains how users can create boxes, add items, manage item details, and keep their storage inventory organized inside Elephant Trax.

To create a box in Elephant Trax, first add the items you want to store inside that box.

Start by uploading or taking photos of your items. You can also add items manually by entering item names and details without photos. For each item, you can add useful information such as notes, keywords, quantity, estimated value, purchase price, brand, model, serial number, or other available details.

Once your item list is ready, select the items you want to attach to the box. You can select all items or choose only specific items. Then tap QR Setup to continue.

In the QR Setup step, you can create your box by adding box details such as:

  • Box label — for example, “Garage Box 1,” “Winter Clothes,” or “Kitchen Items”
  • Location — for example, Garage, Basement, Attic, Office, or Storage Unit
  • Category — for example, Clothes, Tools, Documents, Electronics, or Toys
  • Notes — any extra information you want to remember about the box
  • Custom fields — any additional details you have created for your inventory

After adding the box details, you can choose how you want to save the box:

Assign QR Code
Scan a QR code and connect it to this box. Later, you can scan the QR code to view all items and details inside the box.

Save Without QR Code
Save the box with its label and details without assigning a QR code right now. You can assign a QR code later.

Assign QR Later
Save your selected items now and complete the QR code or box setup later.

Once the box is saved, Elephant Trax keeps the selected items connected to that box, making it easier to search, filter, and find your stored items later.

You can add multiple items to the same box in Elephant Trax by creating an item list first.

Start by uploading or taking photos of the items you want to store inside the box. If you do not have photos, you can also add items manually by entering the item names and details.

For each item, you can add useful information such as:

  • Item name
  • Notes
  • Keywords
  • Quantity
  • Estimated value
  • Purchase price
  • Brand
  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Warranty expiry date
  • Other available details

After adding all items, review your item list. You can select all items or choose only the specific items you want to attach to the box.

Then tap QR Setup to continue. From there, you can create or update the box details, such as box label, location, category, notes, and custom fields.

You can then choose one of the available options:

Assign QR Code
Scan a QR code and connect the selected items to that box.

Save Without QR Code
Save the selected items under a box label without assigning a QR code right now.

Assign QR Later
Save the selected items now and complete the QR code setup later.

Once saved, all selected items will be connected to the same box. Later, you can scan the QR code or search in the app to view the items stored inside that box.

Yes. You can add items without photos in Elephant Trax.

If you do not want to upload or take pictures, you can manually enter the item information instead. This is helpful when you want to quickly create an inventory list, when the item is not available for a photo, or when you prefer to organize your box using text details only.

You can add information such as:

  • Item name
  • Notes
  • Searchable keywords
  • Quantity
  • Estimated value
  • Purchase price
  • Purchase date
  • Brand
  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Warranty expiry date
  • Other available item details

After adding the item details, you can select those items and continue to the QR Setup step. From there, you can attach the items to a box, save them with a box label, assign a QR code, or choose to assign the QR code later.

Photos are useful because they help you visually recognize items later, but they are not required for every item. Even without photos, you can still search and find your items using the item name, keywords, box label, location, category, or other saved details.

To edit a box in ElephantTrax, open the box details screen for the box you want to update.

At the top of the box details screen, you will see a three-dot icon or action menu. Tap this icon to view all available actions for that box. From the action list, choose the Edit option.

You can update box information such as:

  • Box label
  • Location
  • Category
  • Notes
  • Custom fields
  • QR code information, if available

After making your changes, tap Save to update the box details.

Once saved, the updated information will be connected to that box and will appear when you scan the QR code or view the box from the app.

To edit an item in Elephant Trax, open the item you want to update.

When you tap on an item, you will be taken to the item detail page. From there, you can update the item information and make changes as needed.

You can edit details such as:

  • Item photo
  • Item name
  • Notes
  • Keywords
  • Quantity
  • Estimated value
  • Purchase price
  • Purchase date
  • Brand
  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Warranty expiry date
  • Other available item details

You may also have the option to reassign the item to a different QR code or move it to another box if needed.

After making your changes, tap Save to update the item. Once saved, the updated item information will appear when you search in the app or scan the QR code connected to that item’s box.

You can delete a box from ElephantTrax using the Browse page or the Box Detail page.

Go to the Browse page and find the box you want to remove. Select the box, then click the Delete option. This will remove the selected box from your inventory.

You can also open the box you want to delete and go to the Box Detail page. From there, choose the Delete Box option to remove the box completely.

Before deleting a box, please review it carefully. Deleting a box may also remove or affect the item photos, item details, QR code connection, notes, location, category, and other information linked with that box. Once deleted, the box may no longer be available in your inventory.

To delete an item in Elephant Trax, open the item you want to remove from your inventory.

Tap on the item to open the Item Detail page. From there, choose the Delete option. The app may ask you to confirm before removing the item.

Once you confirm, the item will be removed from that box and will no longer appear in your inventory list, search results, or QR code details connected to that box.

Before deleting an item, please review it carefully. Deleting an item may remove its saved information, including:

  • Item photo
  • Item name
  • Notes
  • Keywords
  • Quantity
  • Estimated value
  • Purchase price
  • Brand
  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Warranty details
  • Other saved item information

After the item is deleted, you may need to add it again manually if you want to store it in your inventory later.

You can move an item to another box from the Item Detail page.

First, open the item you want to move. When you tap on the item, you will see its detail page. From there, choose the option to move or reassign the item to a different box or QR code.

Next, select the new box where you want the item to be stored and save the changes.

Once saved, the item will be removed from the previous box and connected to the new box. This is helpful if an item was added to the wrong box, moved to a different storage container, or needs to be reorganized later.

You can add notes to a box while creating the box or later from the Box Detail page.

When creating a box, you will see a notes field where you can enter any extra information you want to remember about that box. For example, you can add notes like “Fragile items,” “Stored on top shelf,” “Holiday decorations,” “Open carefully,” or “Important documents inside.”

You can also update notes later. Open the box you want to edit, go to the Box Detail page, and tap the three-dot icon at the top. This will show the available action options. Select the option to edit or view box details, then update the notes field and save your changes.

Notes help you remember important information about the box and make it easier to understand what is inside without opening the physical box.

When adding or editing an item, you can enter additional item details such as quantity, estimated value, purchase price, brand, model, serial number, purchase date, or warranty expiry date.

These details are useful for home inventory, insurance records, warranty tracking, and business or storage organization.

For each item, you can save useful information such as:

  • Item name
  • Item photo
  • Notes
  • Keywords
  • Quantity
  • Estimated value
  • Purchase price
  • Purchase date
  • Brand
  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Warranty expiry date
  • Custom fields, if available

This helps you keep a complete record of what is stored inside each box.

Yes. You can create and save a box without assigning a QR code right away.

After adding your items, go to QR Setup and choose Save Without QR Code or Assign QR Later. Your box and selected items will be saved in the app, and you can assign a QR code whenever you are ready.
